Mike Seymour
Owner of Seymour Enterprises, Mike Seymour is a race car technician and a former crew chief with a deep background in motorsport spanning a number of decades. Establishing his business in 2016 in order to provide quality service to race car owners and drivers alike, Mike’s vast personal experience in racing affords him the technical knowhow and expertise with a wide variety of automobiles.
Mike’s automotive life began at the age of 7, working at his father’s Union 76 fuel stations filling gas and washing windshields. By his late teens his business sense granted him the ability to co-owning and managing the most high tech body and paint facility in Portland, Oregon with his father while balancing a BMW parts business.
Motorsport came early for Mike beginning in 1982 in Portland. He was able to meet Norton Gaston and Rod Pool, teaching him the basics of racing cars and the dynamics of suspension and aerodynamics. By the age of 18 he was driving and maintaining his own race car in the SCCA races in the Pacific Northwest, then moving to Sebring in Florida for two years to work on Skip Barber Racing School’s cars throughout the Northeast and Midwest. He was quickly promoted to running the schools, lapping days, and appointed the chief mechanic on race weeks due to his keen ability for setting up the best cars the company had seen.
1989 brought lots of changes for Mike starting with his employment at one of the most well-known names in motorsport: Huffaker Engineering. Now known has Huffaker Motorsports, during his time there he helped support two race cars in the IMSA series. He was able to take a world record as the only team to win the 12 Hours of Sebring with two cars in two different classes. Only adding to the record was that the same crew supported both cars during that race. Mike’s success did not go unseen or unheard, as Roush Racing offered him a position as Crew Chief for Robby Gordon in the 1990 and 1991 seasons. This opportunity catapulted Mike’s momentum in motorsport for the future, leading to a number of high-profile appointments during his career.
